10 Most Instagram Worthy Spots Near Georgia Tech

One of the biggest perks of being a student at Georgia Tech is living in Atlanta, specifically Midtown. The area is full of unique buildings, spacious parks, vibrant murals, and experiences around every corner.

As a senior at Georgia Tech, I still manage to find new places to take pictures here. That’s why I have compiled this list of the top 10 most Instagrammable places in Atlanta.

Top 10 Photo-Ops in Midtown Atlanta

1. Jackson Street Bridge

Location: Jackson Street NE 

One of the most iconic spots for photoshoots in Atlanta, Jackson Street Bridge is the perfect location to capture the Atlanta skyline. With relatively low traffic flow and easy access to the bridge, this spot between Cain Street NE and Highland Avenue NE is a must for anyone looking to capture a cityscape sunset as the backdrop of their next set of photos. 

2. Ponce City Market

Location: 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE 

Ponce City Market is an excellent location to go to if you are looking for variety in your photos. From the rooftop space to the abundance of murals and storefronts, there are many different areas to not only take photos, but shop, eat and hang out with friends.

3. Centennial Olympic Park

Location: 265 Park Ave W NW 

For shots of greenery, the Atlanta skyline, and even a ferris wheel, head over to Centennial Olympic Park. Here you can find 22 acres of space dedicated to the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, complete with Olympic rings and fountains. 

4. Atlanta Botanical Gardens

Location: 1345 Piedmont Ave NE 

Atlanta Botanical Gardens is known for their beautiful greenspaces and tranquil walking paths right in the heart of Atlanta. Not only is this a lush backdrop for your next photoshoot, but you can help support their mission to “develop and maintain plant collections for the purposes of display, education, conservation, research and enjoyment.” 

5. The Fox

Location: 660 Peachtree St NE 

Built in 1929, this historic location makes for pictures unique to Atlanta. To catch a broadway show or concert, or to just take pictures in front of the iconic light up sign, head over to the Fox Theater for one of the most beloved cultural jewels of Atlanta. 

6. Piedmont Park

Over 200 acres of greenspace just a mile from downtown Atlanta, Piedmont Park offers a dynamic view of both the Atlanta Skyline and an urban forest of over 500 trees. This park is a great place to take photos, have a picnic, or workout with friends. 

 7. Atlanta BeltLine

Location: Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail 

The 22 mile, multi-use loop of trails connects the Midtown Atlanta community together. The Atlanta BeltLine connects restaurants, shops, neighborhoods, and green spaces alike making it the perfect place to eat, shop, workout, or have your next photoshoot. 

8. High Museum of Art

Atlanta is home to the leading art museum in the southeastern United States, The High Museum of Art. Featuring American, European, and African pieces, taking a stroll through the museum presents a creative aesthetic for your photos. Even the lively white exterior is the perfect background for photography.

9. Atlantic Station

Location: 1380 Atlantic Dr NW 

Atlantic Station is an upscale outdoor shopping center featuring fashion, home decor, restaurants, and more. On your next shopping spree, check out the various photo ops between buildings. As a bonus, visit Atlantic Station during the holiday season for a fully decorated winter wonderland.

10. Junkman’s Daughter

Alternative superstore Junkman’s daughter is not only a great place to shop, but an area to take pictures in front of vibrant and unique murals. Head to this spot for colorful outfits, accessories, trinkets, and outfits like no other.
